(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. The brigantine Defiance, whioh arrived from Newcastle to-night, mot very stormy weatbor in the Tasman Sea. Several sails were blown away, causing the vessel to broach to. A heavy sea broke on board, oarrying away the port bulwarks, flooding the oabin and foreoastle, and washing everything moveable off the deck. The weatbor moderated on September 1 1st, but strong west and north-west gales continued until the 10th, when the New Zealand ooast was made.
