LANDSLIP AT NAPIER
;(Fer. P®oss Association.Ji Wairoa, Saturday. Rain opmmonced on Wednesday night and has hoed Increasing daily. There is no sign of its abatiug. The river is in high flood, and is overflowing the wharves. Heavy slips have' occurred on tho main roads. . , ... Napier, Saturday. Another heavy landslip took place about five minutes to 8 lost evening, when a largo quantity of earth came down from Colenso Hill, crashing .into a six-roomed house owned by Mr Montague Latcelles, and which until yesterday morning was occupied by Mr A. Bailey, jeweller. The house was shifted right into Milton road, tho chimneys and verandah being completely demolished. Mr S. Woodcock’s house, adjoining, was also twisted and partly upset, ono corner being wrecked. Owing to a fall of earth the previous day at the rear of Woodcock’s house ths occupants of Woodcock’s house moved out yesterday, but Woodcock’s furniture bad not beou removed, and a quantity of that was damaged.
