A Wellington, yesterday. ■ The quantity of gold exported from the - oolony last month was 42,995 ounces, valued- at £172,896, as compared with 48,013 ounces, valued at £180,037 in the corresponding month last year. The gold exported for the seven months of the present year was valued at £1,184,129, or £19,933 less than for the first seven months of lest year. . The value of silver exported last month was £12,523. She resident secretary has received the following cablegrrm from the general manager of the Equitable Life Company in Sydney:—“Mr Paul , Morton, late secretary to the United States Navy, who has recently taken the chairmanship of the Equitable, has cabled that the suit referred to in yesterday’s cables was started several months ago, is absolutely groundless, and will have no result.” He adds that policyholders need not have the slightest uneasiness or anxiety.
