Afternoon sitting. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, lash night, The House met nt 2.30. MR FISHER’S. EXPLANATION.
Mr Fisher w»s in his place, and made a long statement rogvrding his charges against ibo Government, He said he believed ibe Sneddon voucher produced by the Premier was an absolutely genuine document. Tho mistake was his (Fisher’*), and he took a'l tho blame for ft. He added, however, that hB honestly and conscientiously believed there was another voucher which was payable to Seddon, and bo askod for an impartial enquiry into this oharge, and expressed his ability to substantiate is.
Mr Seddou declared there was no such vaucher in existence, and “ belief” could not bo taken as a ground for enquiry. He regretted Mr Fisher had not taken ah other course, and h’s explanation httd only added Insult to injury. He did not intend to propose any motion on the matter. He did not want to make a martyr of Mr Fisher, and he would leave the matter to his conscience, hi* constituents, and the public.
FINANCIAL DEBATE. Mr Flalman carried on the Financial debate till 5 30. EVENING SITTING. The Haute resumed at 7.30. The financial debate wat carried on throughout the evening, the speakers being Duthie, Gcaham, Vile, Baddo, and Kirk, bride.
