THE STRANGE DOINGS IN SIDNEY ALLEGED BLACKMAIL. By telegraph, Press A'as’n, Copyright Received 9.41 p.m., Aug. 2. Sydney, August 2. McNair, Willis’s clerk, threw some further light on the Hoynes-Melvillo affair. He ctated that Melville told him that Haynes and others were conspiring to blackmail Willis. He offered to swear information if the necessity arose. Subsequently be returned to witness and said the whole affair could ba arranged for £SOO. Witness was indignant at Melville's action. He had no authority to do what he did. MeNair read several telegrams which had passed between him and Willis, which showed that the latter was temporising with Melville with tbe view of trapping Melville and Haynes as blackmailers.
