CARNEGIE OFFERS £4OOO FO! FREE LIBRARY.
(Per Press Association.) ‘ Christchurch, last night. Mr Andrew Carnegie has written to the City Council ststing that he will be glad to pay for the ereotfon of a free public library bnilding for the Sydenham ward at a oust of £4OOO if the Council guarantees to provide funds to the extent of £258 for the carrying bn of the library and also provide a site.
