Tho attendance fa moderate. - Derbyshire won the toss, and sent in* visitors in. Armstrong was bowled when, tho total was 24, and Hill retired when 45 was on tho board. , Noble was the next to go, and three wickets wero down for 77* of which Trumper, who was playing a foroing game, had scored 35, though hie innings was marred by chances at 13 ana 30. Gregory was caught at SB, and Trumpet was the next to go at 121. Ho bad been hatting 80 minnteß, and hit eight fourere. Hopkins retired at 129. Then Darling and Gehrs made a stand* The wicket became faster during the day. Gehrs played a vigorous innings. Ho gave a hard chance when nine. He batted for .70 minutes, and hit seven fonrers. > ‘ .
