SENT TO PRISON.
THEFT OF POSTAL NOTES. /Pun Press Association.'! Wellington, last night. Hugh George MoLusky, aged 20 years, came to-day before Mr Justice Cooper for sentence, having pleaded guilty to theft of postal packets at Ohingaiti. Counsel asked for probation. His Honor refused this. He said it was impossible to contemplate the result that might arise from aots of dishonest postal officials. It was bis well considered opinion that in no case where a post-office official was convicted Of stealing letters should the provisiona of the Probation Act be extended. Prisoner would be sentenced to 12 months’ hard labor. ■-:/ , . .- ' ■
