MUSICAL RECITAL,

.(Laughter. l ); ■■ . ‘ lira Slattery, gave ft charming »n----leiipretatiom of ifctie sacred solo f‘ .The Light of L.<J.ve,’’- being accompanied, by her sister, Mass Flora Gilbert, pf 'Auckland* ' The Misses Stuckey, two little soldiers, snug a duet very sweetly* Timbrel, .drill,, by, nine young ladies, Way a very, pretty itern a :thß performer ej keeping perfect time,, anil jutting much grace into their acting. An instrumental duet by, Mr Aif* Lang .(.violin) and Miss iLang’ .(jJianoi); W.aa performed very, creditably,, and >vas followed with a company, song, with action, by, the children. Mr Wm. Sawyer gave *ne Cornet solo, “ The Holy City,” being accompanied, by Mrs Slattery on the piano. A trio by, MeSdiamps Slattery and Newton an;d Mr GeoSawyer "was wall rendered.* anjcl. Mr McKeisey tenor horn solo was also .well given. Another company song by thp children, “ Keep, in the Middie of the Road/’ snowed careful nxeraration, [A pianoforte duet by Mrs Slattery and IvXiss Gilbert was artistically renjderad, and Mrs New- | ton followed with the solo, f ‘ Ora Pro Nobis).” The Timbrel , Band gave another yery pretty 'drill, their I execution being faultless. Bandmaster Jackson and Bandmaster vv. Sawyer gave a ‘cornet solo,, with good effect, and the anthem, f ‘ Tlow iixccHent,” by. the Gisborne songsters, was well received, the parts blending effectively. Another company song, with action, was given by th'e children without a mistake, their singing and acting, reflecting great credit on their instructor, Mrs Slattery. ffi. quartette hy members of the- City Band received an artisVic rendering, and the closing selection by tbe full Band! was also a fino effort;. . . ..
