• The ballot for the 82 sections of Flax, bourne was conducted to-day in tho presence of a crowded assemblage of spectators at the Blenheim Court House. There were 401 applicants, and every holding went off except one. small grazing run and lour workmen’s sections, which are beiog reofferad. A feature of tho list of successful applicants is the prominence of Canterbury names. Many of the pastoral pro perties and several large leases in perpetuity sections went to Canterbury resi- I dents, of whom a largo contingent I attended the bailot. A few Wellington ! and (itago applicants were successful at?d j oue from YLtoria obtained a Holding.
