GOVERNMENT WHIP
'(P.er Press Association.) 1 Auckland, last night. Mr Alfred Kidd, M.H.R., has been offered the appointment of Government Whip, but has not yet given a final answer as to whether he will accept. When seen on the matter, Mr Kidd said he regarded the offer as an honor to hiß constituents, and" for that reason he was inclined to accept it, but he wished to bo quite sure of' the unqualified support of the Government party. He was a Government man, of course, but he was a freeholder, and that great question, he believed, wonld be disposed of this session. He "would endeavor to meet tho wishes of .the Government if be had, as ho believed ho would have, tho support of the party.
