Mr Brodrick explained that he intended to alter the Indian miiitary administration, making the Commander-in Chief directly responsible to the Vice-Regal Council for everything connected with the combatant service, while a Military Supply Department would bo created to deal with army contracts, and purchase of etores, ordnance and arms. The decision created a sensation in India.
Lord Kitchener practically obtains complete control, being emancipated from interference by 70 military members of the Council and the Viceroy’s military secretary. It is considered to be a severe blow to Lord Curzon. It is understood that General Elies has resigned from the Governav-General’s Council. •
