j At the Laud Commission, Speight, I replying to Crick’s statements, said the I proposed syndicate was only mentioned by Crick in a letter, wherein it was proposed to acquire land by special Act or auction. It was intended to use it for | intense cultivation and spend £IOO,OOO in developing. It would have been a good asset to the country. A similar proposal was now before tho Lands Department, i Hoskins, station manager for Willis, was asked to produce his boobs giving details in connection with the disputed leases whereon Mrs Willis has mortgages. He gave evidence that tho books had disappeared from Willis’ office since Saturday. He did not know where they had gone. Willis, in whose charge they were, was absent from town. '
