BOROUGH LIGHTS.
(To the Editor .Gisborne Times.-)' Sir, —On reading your account of the proceedings of tho Borough Council, I noticed that Cr Sheridan proposed, and Cr Colley seconded (both West Enders, note), that the lamp at Carvarvon street be removed to Herbert road. Now, sir, as a West Ender X must certainly protest against the removal of that lamp. It is the only lamp within a radius of nearly half a mile in Palmerston road, and lights up the approach to the Recreation Ground, j which is considered ono of the most unsafe I thoroughfares in Gisborne.- If it is necessary to take away a lamp in ' the interests of economy, why not take one from the I Haiti bridge corner, where there are two I (one extra powerful one at that) within a j radius of fifty yards ? Thanking you in I anticipation,—l am, etc., I RATEPAYER.
