RUGGER NOTES.

By Critic.

i It is somewhat early in the season to speculate upon which of the three senior , clubs will hold the Hon. J. Carroll’s silver challenge cup for next season. Both Huia and West End possess a powerful forward combination, but are both exceedingly woak behind the pack. The Haiti-City club has a light forward division, but is exceptionally strong in their backs, and ou a fine day with a dry ball will take some beating. Delemere, Pufieit and Erekana i are a formidable trio, and work well to gether. Haiti-City should not go under so easily to West End to-morrow as on their j previous meeting. I Tho second grade match to-morrow j afternoon'will he between Weet End and I Huia. The team to represent West End will be picked from the following : —John* I stone, Holly, Burke, Cowan, Rice, Bennett, j Roderick. Bennett, PattersoD, Martin, | Eyres, Petersen, McLornon, Somervell, Wright, Webb and Pritchard. _ I The Union commences the third grade j matches to-morrow afternoon at 1.30, when I the school meets West End. The other I two clubs in this competition 3re Huia and j Haiti City. As these matches finish before three o’clock, the Union could piay a I match on each ground. The Referees’ Association have appointed the following referees for tomorrow’s matches :—Senior, Mr T. Wynyard; junior, Mr W. Gibson ; President’s £natcb„(third grade), Mr W. Howard. i
