AGRICULTURE.
[(Per Press 'Association.) Auckland, last night. At a meeting of the Education Board
Mid. M. M. Stalwortby moved, “That ,S an agricultural expert bo forthwith en- ~ gaged to diroet agricultural education in the primary schools of the country dis- ~ tricts. The matter, he said, should be no f longer delayed. Some persons of authority should point out what were the lines upon upon which agricultural instruction was to be pursued. The Chairman thought the matter should be referred to the Chief Inspector and the Diractor of Technical Education to report. . Mr J. D. McKenzie 'eaid the people in the country did not appear to want agricultural education. Mr Parr held that the Board should do the work itself without reference to the Department. There was no need to go out of ths colony for an agricultural expert. Mr Bagneil felt sure the farming community was quite in earnest about it. Farmetß felt they should be as liberally treated in regard to technical education as townsmen. It was finally resolved to refer the matter to the Director of Tech--nioal Education and the Chief Inspector in report to the next meeting.
