MACDONALD MEMORIAL.

.'(Per Press Association-) Invercargill, last night.

Twe patent invalid beds, two travelling chairs, and two back rests, procured from a firm in Canada chat specialises hospital goods, were to-day handed over to the hospital by the Southland Highland Society. They bear plates inscribed So the memory of General Sir Hector A. MacDonald, K.C.8., D.S.O. The speeches made were tributes to his distinguished military career, and to his work as a man. In accepting, the chairman, Mr Hawke, expressed a hope that the example of the Society would be followed, and suggested that the time was opportune to raise a subscription to erect a ward for consumptives. The suggestion was heartily supported by Mr Hanan, M.H.R., and met with marked favor from the large gathering.
