AJNATIVE DROWNED AT • WAIPIRO.

Our Waipiro correspondent telegraphed last evening A sad boating accident

occurred at Waipiro this afternoon. Three L », Maoris were returning from a fishing ex- ' cursion, when the boat capsized in the breakers. One of the party, named Teanera Taniwha, was drownod,but the other two were saved. The accident was witnessed hy several persons in.the vicinity, including Messrs Culpan and Mnolndoe, of Auckland. These gentlemen did all in their power to restore respiration in the case of Taniwha, bat unfortunately without avail. Arrangements are being made for an in quest.
