SERIOUS ACCIDENT,

,THAMES, last night. A serious accident ‘ooourrod at IChelmsfor'd mine at Tair.ua,, on the East Coast Peninsula. John Piggot was working in a slope, and a large quantity of quartz and earth feU a completely burying him. He was ..extracted with considerable ‘difficulty. He was found to ho seriously injured. Twenty mates carried him over tho ranges to the Thames. His head and shoulders Were badly crushed, and his condition is serious, hut ho is expected to retcover.
