Auckland, last night. The importance of the north of Auckland Main Trunk railway being pushed on with more vigor than has hitherto been displayed was discussed at a large and representative public meeting of city and oountry residents held under the auspices of the North Island Main Trunk Railway League. The Mayor of Auckland presided. The present allocations of the railway votos as between the North and South Islands was criticised. It was unanimously decide to ask Government and Parliament I that a vote of £IO,OOO for the extension of the line as far as Maangaturoto should be I placed upon the Estimates next session- I
