The first disturbance in Warsaw took place in the afternoon. A procession of 5000 workmen marched through the streets, carrying red flags and singing revolutionary songs, their conduct otherwise being harmless. A squadron of uhlans appeared. They did not attempt to interfere until backed by the infantry, when the üblanß charged with swords and the infantry firing volleys. The hospital authorities admit that 31 were killed and 15 severely wounded, besides many slightly wounded. _
It is reported that the police carried away 60 killed and wounded. They arrested 61 and captured the red flags. >_ The injured include women and child-
ren. There is intense indignation, since the attaoks were unprovoked. Reoeived 10.15 p.m.', May 2.
After the first collision at Warsaw the Cossacks were extremely provocative, using whips freely against the crowds. A man harmlessly fired on the infantry patrol, whioh immediately fired indiscriminately, killing 25 and wonnding 20. Late in the evening a third collision resulted in the killing of four workmen and wounding of many. A bomb hurled at a Cossack patrol killed three and one policeman. , The Cossacks and infantry fired repeatedly, causing numerous casualties.
Crowds at Lodz sioned tbe military, who fired, killing two. Later a bomb was thrown at the patrol, who fired, killing three and wounding two. All is quiet at St. Petersburg, except that a bomb exploded iu a private house, injuring two students who were handling it.
