I A dense fog this morning was responI sible for a serious collision between two I tramoars on the Herne Bay end of the I Ponaonby lino, where thero is a single line |of rails. The fog was so dense that tho I approaching ware unobserved by tho | motormen till two yards apart. They were travelling fairly fast, but the motormen stuck to their posts, aud applied the emerI genoy brakes and reversed the motors. The oars mot with a crash. The end of each oar was smashed. Motorman Par- f relly was thrown off the car and bruised I considerably. The passengers escaped } injury beyond the shock. The accident J was presumably due to the motormen I believing the single line was olear. f
