MUNICIPAL, AFFAIRS. % - - - - (Per Press Association.’) Wellington, last night. A recommendation is to be made to the Mnnioipal Association that it should make representations with the object of getting legislation to' provide that Mayors shall be eleoted for two years, and that half the members of Councils shall retire annually. LABOR PARLIAMENT. A conference of delegates of Trades and Labor Councils opens proceedings on Tuesday. The delegates are : Auckland, W. Peek; Napier, Messrs Hooking and Oldridge ; Wellington, Messrs W. H. Hampton, W. T. Young, and A. H. Cooper ; Nelson, Messrs R. H. Simpson and J. Ingram; Christchurch, Messrs J. McCullough, M. R. O’Brien, and J. BaerideD ; Messrs'W. Hood, R. Brown, and J. A. Scott. Westland and Wanganui! will not bo represented. A BIG WORK. The contract for the new D.I.C. building is £23,000.
