A LICENSING CASE. (Per’ Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. Mr Justice Denniston yesterday refused the rule asking for the issue of a writ of oertiorari to quash the certificate of license granted by the Grey Licensing Committee in respect to premises at Dunolly. UNOPPOSED MAYORS. Mr Alfred Pearce was re-elected Mayor of Kaiapoi, and Mr John Riohardson Mayor of Woolston, neither bemg opposed DOMESTIC INSTRUCTION. The secretary of tho local School o* Domestic Instruction has been advised that Government has purchased a site for buildings for a school near the centre of the city. It is understood that in addition to the buildings for the School of Domestic Instruction, the site will be utilised for buildiDg3 to accommodate the technical classes, in respect to which there has been much agitation for the past year or so. BROACHING CARGO. William Godfrey, employed as a trimmer on board the Morayshire, was sentenced at Lyttelton yesterday to two months’ imprisonment with hard labor for having broached the ship’s cargo and stolen three pairs of goloshes. A FIRE. The insurances on P. D. Barker’s residence, noar Waimate, destroyed by fire on Wednesday night, were : Building, £SOO in she Liverpool London and Globe ; and the oonJents, £4BO in the Farmers’ Co operative Fire and Marine Insurance Association of Canterbury.
