FATHER HAYS.

WELCOMED BY TEMPERANCE SOCIETIES.

Father Hays arrived at the Bluff by the s.s. Waikare this morning, and was welcomed by the Mayor and citizens. A large assemblage met him at Invercargill station, where he was received by Or Troggart, on behalf of the citizens, and the Rev. Robert Ferguson, on behalf of tbe temperance societies. Tbe Salvation Army band were also present. Replying to an address, tbe Rev. Father Hays said his object in visiting the colonies was solely to benefit his fellow-men, and that in his mission he knew no distinction of race, creed, or color. He opens his campaign here to-morrow night.
