The Department of Industries and Commerce has receivedithe following cablegram i from the Agent-Gsnesal, dated London, 9th :—The mutton market is steady, with a better demand. There is oc .change in prices since last report. The lamb ; raarket is firm. The demand is getting better. The average price to-day of New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is sfd, New Zealand brands other than Canterbury sgd. There is a better demand for beef. The average price to-day of hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3,xd, fores 2|jd. Biver Plate chilled fceef, of which there is a large supply, is quoted at 41-d for hindquarters,' and 2gd for fores. The butter market is | slightly weaker. There is less demand. Buyers are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. The supplies are about the average. The average price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 104 s per' owt, Danish 106 s. The cheese market is quiet. Holders are firm. New Zealand cheese is ouoted at 58s. Tho hemp market is dull, owing to the large arrivals.
