SPORTS IN AUCKLAND.

.(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. St. Patrick's Day celebrations to day j were on a more extensive scale than for I years past. Tho Stock Exchange, banks and insurance offices were closed. In addition to celebrations in the Domain a | rowing regatta was held at Ngaruawahia, attracting large crowds by train from Auckland, and sports at 'Hamua also received a good deal of patronage. A. Bkmner, of Auckland, beat the Scottish athlete, G. H. Johnston, in oatch-as catchesn wrestling, host two out of three, at St. Patricks'a Day celebrations. Tho ''Port gathering was attended by several thousands, and passed oil very successfully.
