FIRE AT WELLINGTON.
Per Press Association;, j Wellington, yesterday. A fire broke out early this morning in a warehouse occupied by W. Wallace and Co., commission agents, and others, in Victoria ssreet. After doing considerable damage to the wire mattress making machinery 'of Wallace and Co., the fire spread to a portion of tho building occupied by Messrs Collins Bros, and Co., wholesale stationers, etc., whose stock was greatly damaged. Collins Bros.’ stock was valued at £SOOO, and is insured for £3OOO. Detailed insurances are not yet available.
The buildiDg was owned by G. Winder, and was insured for £1450 in the Commercial and £250 in the Phoenix. The damage is estimated at £sCo.to Wallace and Co.’s stock and fittings in the back office, insured for £590 in the Victoria office, and there was a policy of £750 on the front office. There is only partial loss on these. Collins Bros.’ stock was insured for £2500 in the London Liverpool and Globe, and £IOOO in the New Zealand.
