LABOR AND POLITICS.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland last night.
I At a meeting of the Trades and Laber I Council the Political Labor League’s platI form was considered. Mr Phillips thought the platform was a deliberate slap at the present Government, to which the workers owed a very great deal, and ho advised that the matter be very cautious’y dealt with, if :-t all. I Mr Hatley moved, and Mr Phillips seconded, that consideration of tho programme Be again deferred for a fortnight. Mr Danthrean considered that too many of the leagues had been formed, and that they were doing more harm than good. Mr Coombes moved os an amendment that the platform lie on the table indefinitely. . ■ . Mr Dantbrsan seconded, both speakers agreeing that the nnions / should not per mit themselves to bo bound by the platform of # any league. It was ultimately decided to defer consideration of the platform for one month.
