I In tho double hose event Palmorston I North took 85soo ; Rangiora withdrew ; J Sumner were disqualified for dragging tho I hose ; Kunaara, 86$aoo; Napior, 89soo; I Port Chalmers found tho hydrant stopped , I with stones, and are to bo glvon another | run; Timaru wont right through smoothly, doing the work in 77seo, inoluding lseo I penalty for loose ooupling; South Dunedin I was disqualified for not coming book lo within five yards of tho mark; several I I teams, including Christchurch, aro to be allowed a second trial, owing to a stone in I the plug. A cable has been recoived from the I Country Brigados* Board of Viotoria, I stating that their demonstration started I to-day at Warrnambool, and oonvoyiDg I greetings to New Zealand fivomon. j There was a largo attendance in the I afternoon, probably 6000 boing present. I Notwithstanding oonsiderobio delay in the I disablod hose competition, owing to stones I coming up in the plug and rendering it necessary eventually to seoure u now plug, good progress was made, two out of ten ! ovents being completed and two other ovents well forward. The weather wub beautifully floe, but tho ground was too heavy to permit of fast times. In the disabled hose competition (not finished) tho loading teams so far are: Mastorton 76sec, Reefton 76seo (inoluding I penalty), Timaru 77aoc, Napier 79seo, I Thames 79seo. Palmerston North 85sec.
About 12 .teams have yet to compete in the ladder race for one man. The seoond round of heats is about concluded.
The completed veaultsof the baby rescue for two moo are.: New Plymouth (Boon ond Way), 23 l-53ec, T; Dunedin City (Williams and Blanchard), 23 2 ssec, 2 : Lawrence (Duncan and Smith), 2-lsec, 8 ;
Hawrra (Wilson and Rodgers). 24-3-saec, 3 ; Bastowh Railway (Holmes and Keegan), 24 8-ssec, 5. Twenty-nine others competed, the slowest time being 25 4-5 seo.> - v
The manual engine event for five mors resulted: Hawora (Wilson, MoNiven, Grey, Rodgers, Whitting), 44 l-ssoo, 1; Rangiora, 45sec, 2; Cnvistchurch City, 46seo, 3; Timaru, 46 l-sseo, 4; Gore, ,47 2-s?ec, 5. Twelve. other teams competed,Jibe siowest time being 893ec.
