The annual Caledonian sports were hold on the Recreation Ground to day. The attendance numbered about 5000. The two Scottish athletes, Messrs Cameron and Johnstone, at present touring the colony, wore present, and gave an exhibition of hammer and woight throwing, tossing the caber, wrestling, etc. In the running eventß very faßt times were recorded. li.. C. McLachlan, from scratch, won the 440yds handicap in 48 3-5 sec, an Australasian record for the distance, and 3 10 sec outside of the world’s professional record, made by R. Buttery in England. F. H. Somers won the 120yds handicap in i 11 1 5 sec, and Tamihana the 220yds handicap in 21 2-5 sec. L. Ward won the mile in 4.25, and W. Farrell the haif mile in 2.34, In the cycling events J. Harman I won the one mile in 2,16 15, and C. Cat I tanach won the two miles handicap in I 4 38. D. Camoron won most of the piping I events, and C. Smith and llilgour were the most successful dancers.
