News has been received that a woman and two children were killed by a falling tree on the railway works at Pukerimu. There are no details.

Obituary : Lieutenant-Colonel Stavoley, aged 78 years, well known ia the voluntearing and mercantile circles of Dunedin. He died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr W. Bailie, of Blenhoim, after an illness of soma months.
Invercargill, last night. John Ravenscroft, storekeeper at Otautau, was found dead on Monday with a portion ol his head blown away. He went out with a gun on Sunday, saying he intended to shoot rabbits. He had been in bad health, aDd left a note saying he was tired of life.
