COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tho ordinary meeting of the Cook Council was held yesterday, when the following members were present. C’apt. Tucker (in the chair), Crs Gray, Sherratt, Matthews, Murphy, Harding, and Clayton.
NOXIOUS WEEDS. Mr P. Eiohardson, of Tiniroto, wrote re the oiaaring of weeds from the County reserve adjacent to Mr St Ledger’e property. He declined to accept the Council’s offer of £lO to keep the land clear, contending that it was worth that amount to keep it dear for one year. Cr Clayton said that the Crown and Native lands were allowed to grow all manner of weeds whilst settlors were asked to clear their properties. It wa3 very necessary to take stringent steps, to keep the country free from ragwort, which was increasing everywhere. He thought the Council should wire to tho Govern, ment and ask them to take immediate steps Ito hove their land cleared. He moved that this should be done, alsotbat 1 Both resolutions wore agreed to, HAITI BOAD DISTBICT.
A petition from a numberuf 'Haiti settlers, asking that their district be brought under the jurisdiction of the County Council, was deferrod, tho Ciork pointing out that sufficient notice had not boon given to allow the matter to be considered. Deferred until next meeting.
