HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.

WOODS-WILLIAMSON SEASON. ‘■PYGMALION & GALATEA.”

W. S. Gilbert’s world-famed play « Pygmalion and Galatea,” wa3 presented last evening at His Majesty’s Theatre before a large audience in a manner that reflects much credit on this capable company. Those of the audience who had hitherto seen the play performed were of tho opinion that last night’s performance was even superior to the productions in the larger cities of the colony. •_ Miss Williamson gave a highly artistio and pourtrayal of tho role, making a typical Galatea. Her acting proved Miss Williamson to have made a apodal study of the character. Miss Alice Holroyd gave an ideal' representation of Gynisca, a part which suited her admirably. Mr Alfred Woods showed to advantage as Pygmalion, and thereby scored a distinct success, his conception of the part being truly poetio and artistio. Tho remaining members of the company all did excellent work, forming a really strong combination. Wo regret to learn thut this is the company’s farewell season in Gisborne, and hope the support accorded tho company will induco a return visit before very long. To-night the company terminate a most successful season by producing Hall Caine’s famous work, ‘‘The Manxman" or a “ Woman’s Sin.”
