I RANGER’S REPORT. The County ranger reported that 85 head of horses andjaafctlo and 14 lioad of shoep had boon impoiindod during the month. SPECIAL ORDER. The Council agreed to the special ordor separating the Mangatu road districts from parts of the Waikohu 'and Waipaoa road districts.
WHATAUPOKO ROAD DISTRICT A petition from a number of Wha- [ taupoko ratepayers askiug for thoir distriot to bo merged into the County was agreed to. MAHIA ROAD. Mr H. G. Bullon wroto in regard to repairs on the Wnharorata and Mahia roads. The Engineer said the roads in question wore receiving attention. A LOST PROMISE. I
Mr W. Sutherland wrote as follows : About five years ago (I oan’t find the date) the Counoil promised co make a contri bution towards o road through its resorve at Tiniroto to my property from the main road, The work has boen completed, but so far the contribution promised has not boen granted by the Council. ' It was deoided that the Clerk should look up what had been done and reply accordingly. BEBATE OF WHAEFAGE. The Roads Department wrote in regard to an application for .£SOO for the purpose of improving the above road. In reply the chief JEngineer stated that at present there were no available funds but the request would bo considered in the framing of the estimates for next year. RATUTAHI QUARRY CONTRACT. Messrs DeLautour and Barker, solicitors to the Council, wrote in regard to the l Patutahi oontruct, stating that an extension to the present contractor could not be granted under seotion 2 of the general conditions. It was decided to call for fresh tenders for a period of five years with the option of rescinding at the end of every year, contractor to have same right if quarry fails. The contractor to indemnify Council from fulfilment of oontraot to purchase plant, and the quantity of metal supplied to the Council to be 1500 yards with right of the Council to inorease the same. HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
Cr Matthews was reappointed to represent the Council on the District High Sohool Board. FACILITIES FOR TENDERING. Mr Robert McNeil of Takapan, Hauiti, wrote complaining of the difficulty in obtaining specifications of wo'rk undone in in his district. Owing to the absence of the specifications several men were unable to tender.
