PREMIERS’ CONFERENCE

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrigh Hobart, Feb 9. It is understood that the State Premiers and Treasurers decline to entertain the Commonwealth proposals for taking over tho debts of the whole. With regard to tho extension of the Braddon clause, it is understood that the State authorities have agreed to its operation being extended for a considerable period. One reason for. this stiff attitude is said to be the distrust felt by tho States at the way in\whioh the Federal Parliament has acted. In the past it has not shown any great anxiety to consider State sensibilities, but rather has given the impression that it claims not only sovereign power for all Australia, but supreme power as well. Queensland is especially sore on the point, because it haß not reoeived back three-quarters of the Customs revenue.
