(Per Press Association.) Timaru, last night. The Supreme Court concluded at 4.40 p.m. The eeoond trial of Wood for indecent “assault resulted in his aoquittal. Henry Gardner, charged with shepherding BDd robbieg a drunken man was acquitted. / Wellington, last night. An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Thos. Holland, aged 60, a wharf laborer, who did at the hospital on Wednesday. It appears that the man suffered from cancer in the throat. Ho had been operated on some months ago, but there was a recurrence of the trouble. He agreod to undergo an operation on Wednesday, and while taking chloroform expired. The medical evidence showed that death was caused through the pressure of the growth on the air passages interrupting respiration. Deceased’s internal organs were in the primary stages of alcoholic degeneration. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence, the staff being absolved. Reefton, last night. The annual meeting of the Trades and Labor Council commenced yesterday morning, and is likely to last for five or six days. The Unions demand several Acts affecting miners, etc.
