INCREASE OF CAPITAL. At a meeting o£ the shareholders of the Gisborne Gas Company held lest evening it was decided to increase tho capital of the Company from L 15,000 to L25.C00, the additional 1 shares to bo placed on the market as required to meet the increased expenditure, which tho Company is going in for in order to cope with the increased requirements of this growing district. Recently the gas has been laid on to the Gisborne Feeezmg Works and has been largely availed of, the supply to these works alono amounting to over a million feet per annum. It is proposed to light the works: with gas throughout. The Company arc to be congratulated ou the augmoutE.tion of their capital and tho increased demand of gas for local consumption. This increase should oontinue, and there should be keen competition for the shares to be placed on the market.
