■THURSDAY COMPETITION. UNION V. GISBORNE. Tho fourth round in the Thursday competition was commenced yesterday afternoon on tho Viotoria Domain, when Gisborne defeated Union by tho narrow margin of uino runs after a close aud oxoiting finish. Gisborne batted first, and wore disposed of for tho small soore of 75. Of this soore J. Doyle was responsible for 22, put together by good, sound cricket, Featon (10), T. Gibson (9), and McPherson (9) also showed goed form. M. Sheridan aud Delaney bowled best for Union, Andrews uud P. Sheridan also bowling well. Lang and Pirie opened for Onion, but the latter was bowled by MoPhorson for a pair, and M. Sheridan, who followed, was run out in stealing a short run by a good return by Stevens, for S. P. Sheridan made a good partnership with Lang for the fourth wioket. The former scored 15, while the latter realised 14. The only other double-figure scorer was Don, , who rattled up 11 quickly beforo he lifted one into the safe hands of Doyle at longoff. Kelly was tho most successful trundler for Gisborne, seouring 4 wiokets in 3 overs for 5 runs. MoPhorson obtained 3 wiokets for 13 rnns. The following are the scores :
