The spot selected for the picnic was an idoal one for such a purpose —a pretty clump of native bush, situated in a paddock with a sward like a lawn. Though tho day was warm with a fresh breeze, in tho shade of the trees tho atmosphere was cool and delightful, thus allowing tho children to thoroughly tbeir outing. Games of all sorts were indulged in during tho day, tho running events occupying ino3t of their attention. Thc-so were run under tho supervision of tho headmaster and .the Chairman of the Committoe. Tho graceful walking competitions provided very attractive items, no less than twenty-two young ladies taking part. It was-with groat difficulty that tho judges in these .events. Messrs Birrell, Nasmith, and Poudreigh, woro ablo- to select tho winners as the young ladies all ( walked with good carriago. Tho commissariat arrangements for the gathering wore excellent, and wero able to mee.t all | demands. Much credit is duo to those .

ladies who attended to this department— Mesdames Nasmilh, Marshall, Cameron, Page, Gray, Judd, Bousfiold, Davidson, Greaves, Birrell, Misses Stephenson, Gardiner, and Lange. Opportunity was taken during tho day to allow Mr Walsh to prosent prizes donated by him to those children showing tho most progress in their school work during the year. The winners were : Standard 1., Aileen Image ; St. 11., Ernest Harris ; St. 111., Knowles Carnoron ; St. IV., Barbara Mclntosh ; St. V.,

Alfred MeCredie; St. VI., Nora Lang. Pat. Cameron secured Mr Walsh’s prize for tho most courteous boy, Amy Jobson carrying off the prize for the most popular girl. On behalf of the recipients Mr Nasmith thankod Mr Wakh for his handsome prizes, and at his call threo cheers were givon for Mr Walsh. When presenting the runnihg prizes lator in the day, tho Chairman, Mr Nasmith, took tho opportunity to thank those who bad mado donations for the picnic. Ho stated that a number of progress prizes had also been given, but the Committee had decided to prosent them when the school re-opened. Ho thanked Mr Cameron for the use of tho grounds also the ladies who assisted with tho refreshments. Cheers wero then givon for Mr Cameron, the ladies assisting, the teachers, and the chairman. The results of tho variourevents held during tho day were as follows :
