WILLOUGHBY-GEACH COMEDY CO.
“ TOPSY-TURVY.”
Tho -Willoughby-Geach Company, who commence a season of two nights at the Theatre Koyalon Monday next, are generally credited with being the best comedy company in Australasia. Speaking of the production of “ Topsy-Turvy,” an exchange Bays:— A very large audience last night greeted Willoughby and Geach’s London Comedy Company, when they presented the farcical comedy “ Topsy-Turvy.” This comedy is founded on novel lines, and is very cleverly worked out; the central idea is provided by a Cupid, who after uncounted years in tho form of a Btatuo is re-endowed with life. The skill of the God of Lovo has diminished during the period of rest, and his bad shooting bringa about the most absurd situations. The' dialogue is smart, and each of the characters contributes much towards the completeness of the comedy. The farce is a very mirth provoking one ; in fact tho audience were simply convulsed from the rise of the curtain, aud were one and all very well pleased with the whole production, which was well up to the high standard previously set by the members of this combination. With regard to the individual characters, Mr G. Willoughby, as Wilkinson Downie, a society journalist in financial straits, and Miss Eoxy BartOD, as his extravagant wife, proved as usual that they were capable of handling their parts to the best possible advantage. Mr Tom Cannon, billed as an “ upright grocer,” a very persistent creditor, and Miss K, Watta-Philips, as Jane, a domestic of a type happily new to most of the audience, were most prominent among the rest of the cast, all the members of which filled their cast very well. Miss M. Har-dinge-Maltby, as Cupid, is deserving of special mention for the exceedingly graceful way in which her part was taken. Tko box-plan will be opened at Mr Miller's at iO o'clock this morning,
