Among the outward correspondence at tho Invercargill Borough Council meeting to-night was a letter sent by tho Mayor to tho Wanganui Council, who had asked for information re the working of the unimproved value system of taxation. Tho Mayor had replied that this Council's experience had been favorable. The reading of this brought a ohorus of dissent from the councillors. One member eaid thero was a very general feeling of dissatisfaction with the new method of rating, and in many instances owners were paying njoro in ratos than they got in rents. It was a moat inequitable system. The Mayor’s reply was considered indisoreot, but he said he had houtd no complaints. I
