The Takapuna Jockey Club’s spring meeting oponed yesterday in fine weather, and in the prosonoo of a good attendance. Tho sum put through the totalisator was JE7466. The rosults wero :
Trial Handicap.—Geordie 1, Cuiragno 2, Sly Miss 3 Scratched: Tho Frenchman. Time, 1.46 3-5. Diva., £2 63 6d and £2 2s. Cambria Handicap. Conclusion 1, Eureka 2, Promotion 3. Gweniad was scratched. Time, 62 3-5. Divs., £4 16s fid and £3 Is 6d.
St. Andrew’s Handioap.—Maro 1, Dolores 2, Soußfish 3. Scratched: Putty and despatch. The winner caught Dolores at tbs head of the straight, and drawing out won easily by two- lengths. Time, 2.12 1-5. Divs., £3 6s and 17s.
Maiden Hurdles: Major 1, Ambition 2, Crespin 3. Scratched: Tahoe, Tuni, and Fencer. Time, 2.59 2-5. Divs., £1 3s 6d and £6 13s fid.
Melrose Handicap.—TeAroha 1, Liberator 2, Ngatoro 3. All started. Time, 1.4. Divs., JE3 2s and £X 11s. First Pony Handicap. Annoyed 1, Avalanche 2, Lady Desborough 3. Kyra, Stepaway, and Girton Girl were scratched. Time, 1.20. Divs., JES 18s and 13s 6d. First Handicap Hurdles.—Up-to-Date 1, Bufus 2. Scratched: Val Bosa, Irish, and Chancellor 11. Time, 3.53 3-5. Div., £2 3s. Inchape won, but was disqualified for crossing, the rider, Stewart, being suspended for three months. Cheltenham Handicap. Geordie 1, Nurna 2, Austerlitz 3. Scratched : Lady Bobs and Baßtion. Time, 1.4, Divs., £9 2s 6d and j6l 14s fid.
