AUCKLAND SHOW.

j(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The A. and P. Show is proceeding in fine weather.; The exhibits are up to the usual. There is a very fine display of sheep, cattle,- and hottes. Later.

The Auckland Provincial Agricultural Association’s Show opened today, and promises to be a thorough success. There was an unusually large attendance for the first day. The cattle classes were remarkable for a distinct improvement in nearly ail breeds, particularly among pedigree Jerseys, which were by competent judges declared to be the finest collection of this breed ever seen in ■the colony. Pedigree shorthorns arc ■another class which represent one of the finest collections of its breed seen at an Auckland Show. The number of horses entered is not so great as last year. On the whole the Show i» a fair one, and some of the classes are decidedly good, but on the other hand several are distinctly below show form. The entries in the sheep classes are about as numerous as usual, falling off somewhat in longwools, and showing an increase in .Shropshires. The quality of,the exhibits is very high, and many favorable criticisms were passed on some of 1 the pens.- The number of entries in the pig section is small,; hut the quality of mose of the exhibits is excellent. -The exhibits of dairy produce and sundries are numerous ■and excellent in condition. The judge’s note states : “ The general quality of the butter exhibits was well up to the average, but the pro.es seemed to be in the hands of six or seven out of the whole of the exhibitors.”
