By Telegraph—Presß Association—Copyright Received 12.39 a.m., Nov. 28 Brisbane, Nov. 27. Warner’s team began the match against Queensland. The weather was fine, and a good wicket. The attendance was 4000. Hayward, Hirst, and Tyldesley stood out. The local team, after an inauspicious start, Patrick succumbing to the first ball, made a good stand. The battiug was at first slow and cautious, the first hour yielding 50 runs. Dr Macdonald came in third man, and was joined by Evans when three wickets were down for 70. The partnership added 95 runs, and provided an excellent display of all round cricket. Evans played with great brilliance and dash. The rapidity of the scoring may be judged when it is stated that at one period he made 27 runs in 20 minutes. Macdonald played a sound defensive game. Both thoroughly captured the bowliog, of which numerous changes were tried. Evans' score included two fives and ten fours. Macdonald saw tho last man in, and then was given out leg bofore to Bosanquot. When stumps were drawn the Englishmen had one wicket down for 21.
