LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) .WELLINGTON, last night; Tho Council met at 2.30. The whole sitting was devoted to the debate on the second reading of the Preferential Trade Biil. It wilt be resumed in the evening, The Council resumed at 7.30. The Preferential Trade Bill passed through Committee and its linal stages.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
The House met at 2.30. Nearly the whole ui tho afternoon was spent in discussing the Naiiunul ScholarsUips Bill in Committee. Tho House resumed at 7.30. Tho National Scholarship Bill passed through Ooinmitleo and tho linal stages. The debate on tUe Puulic Works Slatement was entered on shortly alter the supper adjournment, and is still proceeding.
