A Southern paper reports that -M.r James Elder, of Tcmuka, has secur--ed 38-1 trout since the opening of the season. This constitutes a record for the district. Most of the fish ■were taken from the Temuka river, .which is teeming with fish. A novel walking-match took place at Brighton, Victoria, the other day. when seven one-legged men competed over a course of two miles.
