A SUDDEN DEATH.
Information was received yesterday of a sudden death beyond Te Karaka. Our special correspondent informs us that the man was named Thomas O’Connor, aged about 40. He was working for Martin Bros., road-making near Mangatu. He was very subject to fits, supposed to have been brought on by a blasting accident in which ho was injured some years ago. His mates on thej contract became alarmed at the way ho was taking fits, and advised him to go into Whatatutu. They got him a horse and he rode into the township, but after reaching Whatatutu he started wandering about. Mr Goldsmith, senr., found him lying on the road, and waiting for the coach he informed Mr Cassidy, who brought him back to Whatatutu, whore Constable Goldsmith kindly took charge of him. As his condition'did not improve Constable Goldsmith obtained a vehicle and set out for the Hospital with the poor fellow, but when about half-way to Karaka the patient expired. An inquest will be held at To Karaka to-day.
