An impressive thanksgiving service for the preservation of the lives of those on the Ovaluu was held iu the Anglican Church, : Archdeacon Comes officiating. It was largely attended.

The Czar dined with the Kaiser at Weisbaden, went to the opera, and returned to Darmsdadt. The meeting was 'cordial. Ono thousand troops guarded the streets. Pekin, Nov. 5.
The Dowager Empress has ordered Yuanshikai to proceed to Mukden to arrange a settlement.
London, Nov. 5.
An Armenian, supposed to be Sajounes’ murderer, overtook three members of the Armenian Committee of Huantochankists at Peckham Rye. He shot two dead, and a bullet grazed the third. The assassin tried to escape, but the bystanders knocked him down and took away the revolver. The assassin took a second revolver from his pocket, and blew out his brains. Received 1.23 a.m., Nov. 6. Sydney, Nov. 5. In the Assembly Mr Carruthers moved the previously noticed resolution, condemnatory of the Government’s action in leasing an area for Savings Bank offices/ The Treasurer defended the lease, and declared it was a straightforward, honest transaction. The debate is proceeding.
