The Addington sales were held to day

Fat cattle : 220 head were yarded, the greater number Bteers. The demand was not so keen as usual, and this, coupled with the large supply, caused prices to recede, beef ruling from 27s 6d to 31s per 1001 b, steers £6 10s to £l3 10s, heifers £6 5s to £lO 6d, cows £5 5s to £lO ss.

Fat sheep : The entry was again very small, and in consequence the market experienced a sharp rise in prices. Some lines showed an advance of 3s to 4s per head, but about 2s probably represents the average increase. Extra prime woolly wethers brought 26s 7d to 30s, prime 20s to 255, extra prime woolly ewes 25s 9d to 28s 6d, prime 19s 6d to 245, lighter 14s 3d to 18.3 ss, woolly hoggets 16s 9d to 22s 9d, woolly Merino wothers 18s 6d to 21s, shorn Merino wethers 13s 9d to 15s. Fat lambs : About 200 wero entered, the majority being of excellent quality. A few wore purchased for export at from 14s 6d to 17s Gd, but tho bulk wore for butchers’ requirements. Prices ranged from 13s to 21a 6d.

Store sheep : 2300 were entered. For ewes and lambs the demand was scarcely so brisk as had been tbs case recently, but other classes sold up to lato rates. Ewes and Jamb 3, all counted, brought 7s 6d to 133 3d, wetbers 14s to 20s.

Pigs : There was a largo entry, and tho quality was distinctly above tho average. Prices for bacon were easier, but for pork tho demand was well maintained. Bnconers brought 50s 6d to 60s, equal to 4£d to 5d per lb ; porkers 30s to 425, equal to 6Jd to 6d per lb.
